About the Scientific Council Working Area

The Scientific Council Working Area is where the Scientific Council (ScC) performs technical work during the intersessional period between the Conference of the Parties.

To access the currently active working area for the ongoing intersessional period please select from the menu on the left under Working Groups. The structure of the working area follows the list of Working Groups and their tasks (where applicable).

At the level of Working Groups and their tasks, you can perform the following actions:

  • Viewing – you can view all comments posted and files uploaded by all users. There is an option of creating private working groups which will be visible to their members only.
  • Posting comments and uploading files – you can post your statements and upload files by clicking on the button “Add new comment”. A new page will open where you can type or copy/paste your text and then click on the button “Preview comment”. A new page will open where you can finally post your text by clicking the button “Post comment”. (Important! Please always fill in the subject line, otherwise the first line of your comment will automatically be inserted by the system). You can also save your comment as a draft and edit and post it later.
  • Replying to posts – you can reply to a particular post by clicking the button “reply” within that post followed by the same sequence of action as with the posting.(Important! Please always fill in the subject line, otherwise the first line of your comment will automatically be inserted by the system)
  • Editing your posts – you can edit all your own posts by clicking the button “edit” within the post you want to amend followed by the same sequence of action as with the posting.

Notifications – if subscribed, you receive an automatic notification by e-mail when a new comment has been posted under one of the working groups. Each automatic e-mail notification will contain a link, which will lead you directly to the new post. All posts created since you last visited the space of that working group, will be indicated with the word “new” highlighted in red and placed by the photo of the users who have created them.

All members and observers have been subscribed to the working groups (and tasks) in which they are participating, by the moderator. You can subscribe to other working groups and/or their tasks by visiting the space of a particular working group or its task and clicking on the button “Subscribe”, which is located just below the short introductory text; you can unsubscribe in the same way.

You can also unsubscribe from working groups and/or their tasks from My account >> Subscriptions >> threads. (Important! Please leave blank all categories under My account >> Subscriptions >> content types, otherwise you will receive notifications from all working groups/forum topics even if you are not subscribed to them)

Please note that once you have posted a comment on any working group space you will be automatically subscribed to it. There is a direct unsubscribe link in the notification email, if you want to unsubscribe.

These are actions which you cannot perform:

  • Uploading files – The system allows upload of files not larger than 8MB
  • Altering menus – users cannot change the content and the structure of the menus on the left. If you want to suggest any alterations, please post a suggestion under Discussion Area >> Forums >> Working Area >> Suggestions for improvements.
